Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills earned their fourth-consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon, and clinched a fifth-straight season of 10 or more wins in a 27-21 win over the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium.
With Sunday's win, plus a Miami Dolphins loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills can still clinch a fourth-straight AFC East title next week with a win in South Florida.
The story of Sunday's game in Orchard Park was the Buffalo defense forcing four first half turnovers, one of which being returned for a touchdown by cornerback Rasul Douglas.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen didn't have the greatest of outings, completing just 15-of-30 pass attempts for 169 yards and tossing one interception. He did use his legs, however, in the win, scoring twice to help put the Bills over the top.
Despite the offense struggling throughout the afternoon, Allen's only focus after Sunday's win was making sure he helps his team get into the playoffs.
"Obviously we'd love to have a home playoff game, would love to get in the playoffs, that's first-and-foremost," said Allen during his postgame comments with the media. "Just doing whatever we can do to give ourselves a chance of getting in."
Although the Buffalo defense caused all four turnovers in New England territory to give the offense great field position, the offense could only muster two offensive touchdowns. Allen knows if they are to continue to have success into January and February, the offense needs to score touchdowns off those turnovers rather than field goals.
"That's not good enough on our end. We've got to be better prepared to go and get six and seven there," Allen said. "Again, we lucked out, and our defense played a heck of a game. We've got just trying to find a way to win."
