Green Bay, Wis. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the third time in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills have turned to the cornerbacks position, selecting Dorian Strong out of Virginia Tech with the first pick (177th overall) of the sixth round.
Strong played five seasons with the Hokies from 2020-24, where he tallied 112 total tackles, two tackles for loss, seven interceptions, and 28 defended passes.
In his senior season, at Virginia Tech, Strong started 12 games, recorded a career-high 32 tackles, and added six pass breakups along with two interceptions.
This pick was acquired by the Bills back in 2023 in a trade with the New York Giants for a 2025 seventh-round pick and defensive end Boogie Basham.
Here is what NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein has to say about Strong:
"Long, instinctive cornerback who can be a disruptive press corner, or scan the field for ball production in zone. Strong has average play strength, getting off of blocks and tackling, but it doesn’t bother his press redirect or ability to effectively contest catches. He has issues matching route breaks and flipping to sprint against deep targets due to average hips and foot quickness. He plays with adequate field awareness and anticipation in reading the quarterback. Strong should begin his career as a backup, but his cover talent could ultimately overcome any coverage concerns on the next level."
The Bills will pick again in the sixth round with the 206th overall selection.
