Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has been around football for a while, playing in his 16th NFL season in 2020.
The Dolphins are Fitzpatrick’s eighth franchise he has played for in the league, joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and St. Louis Rams dating back to 2005.
Those are just his home teams, as he’s played in nearly every city around the league.
So, who better to ask than Fitzpatrick about which NFL city is his favorite?
For Fitzpatrick, the answer is so obvious he didn’t even bother with trying to be diplomatic about it.
“I can’t -- I’m gonna get in trouble if I answer that one,” he said on The Adam Schefter Podcast. “’Cause my favorite NFL city, I mean, it’s Buffalo.”
When asked why, Fitzpatrick simply said, “Because it’s Buffalo.”
The 37-year-old spent four years with the Bills – his longest tenure of any team – playing in Buffalo from 2009-12. He went 20-33 with 80 touchdowns and 64 interceptions in 53 starts, but the team never played better than 6-10.
He will have to wait before he makes his returns, though. The Dolphins are not scheduled to play Buffalo until Week 17 on Jan. 3, 2021. Perhaps by then, there could be fans in the stadium.
It is a high compliment for Bills Mafia, though. Fitzpatrick has spent the last four years in Florida, where it is warm year-round, and had his only winning season of his career in New York with the Jets.
But it’s clear Buffalo holds a special place in Fitzpatrick’s heart.
