Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - It was an eventful weekend for the Buffalo Bills, as the team added a total of eight new players to the roster courtesy of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Buffalo opened the weekend's festivities on Thursday by moving up two spots in the draft order in order to select cornerback Kaiir Elam with the 23rd overall pick. Friday saw the Bills add to their running backs room with the selection of James Cook with the 63rd pick in the second round. Buffalo then closed out Day 2 of the draft by adding some help at linebacker with the selection of Terrel Bernard.
Finally, Buffalo wrapped up the weekend with five more selections on Day 3 of the draft on Saturday. This included three additions for the team in the sixth round of the draft alone.
Upon the completion of the 2022 NFL Draft, Bills general manager Brandon Beane joined the “Howard and Jeremy Show” on Monday to recap what went into the selections the team made.
One major moment for the Bills in this year's draft was the team trading back twice in the second round: Once to go from 57th overall to 60th, and then again to go from the 60th pick to 63rd.
“When we got to that pick at 60, none of the four or five guys we had there, including Cook, had moved," Beane said on Monday with Jeremy White. "Then when we moved again, one of them went, so we said, 'Let's not get too cute here.'"
When talking about Cook, Beane called him a “ball of clay,” and discussed how the team felt after holding a private workout for Cook.
“You really saw his hands and his ability to run routes," Beane said. "He will probably get work with not only our running backs coach, but also Chad Hall, our wide receivers coach.”
