Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Heading into Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills are one of the few teams remaining with an unbeaten record.
For the third time in four weeks, the Bills are set to play under the bright lights of prime-time, this time on "Sunday Night Football" against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.
The Ravens have had a bit of slow start to their season, sitting with a 1-2 record. After a pair of losses in the first two weeks of the year, Baltimore was able to bounce back in Week 3 with a win over the Cowboys in Dallas.
Despite the slow start, the Ravens, once again, have a dynamic offense behind reigning MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. To add to their balanced attack offensively, Baltimore added running back Derrick Henry as a free agent this offseason from the Tennessee Titans.
"They bring a unique challenge, previous to Derrick Henry even arriving, and now, thought they made a heck of a strategic move of going to get Derrick Henry," said Bills head coach Sean McDermott during his weekly appearance on the "Extra Point Show" on WGR. "That combination, along with what they already had, [Mark] Andrews and the tight end [Isaiah] Likely, and now with their wide receivers as well, [Zay] Flowers in particular, I think they're the No. 1 ranked offense in the NFL, yards-wise. They're really good, and we'll have a challenge in front of us on Sunday night."
Luckily for the Bills, they have not had too many issues relating to injuries. While a few notable players have missed some time this season like linebackers Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard, as well as cornerback Taron Johnson, they have been able to rely on their depth pieces to step up when their names are called.
Ahead of Sunday's matchup, Bernard and Johnson have already been declared out with their respective injuries, as well as rookie offensive lineman Tylan Grable, who was placed on Injured Reserve.
The good news for the Bills this week, though, was Bernard being able to return to the practice field and being upgraded to a limited participant in practice.
"It was great to see him out there," McDermott said with Sal Capaccio on Friday. "It's good for his teammates, for the team to see him, feel his energy and his leadership. And yet, at the same time for him as well, to get back in the pads and in the helmet, and start to knock some of the rust off."
On the offensive side of the football, Bills quarterback Josh Allen has led the way for Buffalo both in his play under center, as well as his leadership on and off the field. Entering his seventh season as a member of the Bills, McDermott said it was time for Allen to take on a new type of leadership role.
"His leadership and what we, and everyone sees on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays - whenever we play - is really a result of what he's doing every day on a very consistent basis in our building and on the practice field," McDermott said. "Very steady in his approach to his leadership responsibilities, but also to the job that he has under center for us. So he's in a good spot, and just really fun to watch them play and play with with this type of mentality, if you will."
The Bills and Ravens will kick things off on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET from Baltimore. You can hear all of the play-by-play action on the official voice of the Bills - WGR Sports Radio 550.
