Chicago, Ill. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - It was one of the more uglier preseason games in some time for the Buffalo Bills, who were dominated from start-to-finish in a 38-0 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday night at Soldier Field.
While much of the Bills' starting lineup on both sides of the football did not play Sunday, head coach Sean McDermott was not too pleased with the effort from the rest of the group.
"Certainly not up to our standard, what we expect. We have a lot of work to do," said McDermott following the loss. "Doesn’t matter who’s out there… ones, twos, threes, fours, whoever it is, we expect them to perform. We expect our level of performance to be much better than that."
One of the only expected starters for the Bills to play was safety Cole Bishop. The second-year safety has dealt with injuries over the past two training camps, and only recently got back to practice after suffering a quad injury.
"He was on a managed rep count, so I wanted to get him more reps. He needs more experience, he needs more reps," McDermott said of Bishop. "There is nothing more important to him than the experience he got tonight, but even tonight he was on a rep count of roughly 10-12 plays."
