East Rutherford, N.J. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills improved their record to 4-2 this season with a nail-biting 23-20 win over the New York Jets on "Monday Night Football" at MetLife Stadium.
One of the big storylines from this game was the penalties on both side of the football, as the Bills and Jets combined for 22 penalties for 205 yards. The Bills accounted for 11 of those penalties for 94 yards in the win.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott knows his team needs to clean up the penalties and play more disciplined football.
"It's hard to win when you've got 11 penalties, six of which, I believe, were either pre-snap or post-whistle penalties, which is not how we handle ourselves," said McDermott while addressing the media following Monday night's win.
On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Josh Allen had a bounce-back game after only completing nine passes in their Week 5 loss to the Houston Texans. Allen ended this game by going 19-of-25 for 215 yards and three total touchdowns.
However, part of Allen's success in the passing game was the result of a strong rushing performance from the likes of rookie Ray Davis and veteran Ty Johnson, who combined for 131 yards on the ground.
"Coming out the way we did, established a line of scrimmage, and Josh was seeing the game. He was seeing their defensive looks and going through his progression, getting the ball out when he needed to. And then he made some loose plays, like he always does," McDermott said.
