In a leaguewide memo sent to all teams, Commissioner Roger Goodell said the Buffalo-Cincinnati game would not be resumed ahead of Week 18 - the final week of the regular season - and that a decision had not been made to potentially resume it beyond that.

The note also said there would be no changes to the Week 18 schedule, and that any possible updates on the situation would be relayed "promptly."

The "Monday Night Football" showcase game was suspended with just under six minutes remaining in the first quarter after Hamlin collapsed to the turf at Paycor Stadium moments after tackling Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

While both the Bills and Bengals have already clinched postseason berths, their game could have potential ramifications for seeding in the AFC playoff picture.

The Bills are set to host the New England Patriots in Week 18, while the Bengals will host the Baltimore Ravens.

Hamlin, 24, remains in critical condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center's intensive care unit on Tuesday afternoon.

Immediately after the incident, he was down on the field for roughly 20 minutes while in cardiac arrest. Medical staffers administered CPR and AED to shock his heart back into rhythm. He was taken off the field in an ambulance and rushed to UCMC for further treatment.

The game was initially delayed for roughly an hour before it was finally suspended at about 10 p.m. EST.
