Bills sign quarterback Anthony Brown

Brown comes in following the injury to Mitch Trubisky this past Saturday

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - With another injury to another quarterback on the roster, the Buffalo Bills are in need of a fresh body ahead of their preseason finale on Saturday against the Carolina Panthers.

As first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Bills have signed quarterback Anthony Brown to the roster. To make room, the Bills have waived/injured wide receiver Lawrence Keys III.

Brown joins the Bills after recently being let go by the Las Vegas Raiders this past Friday. He had signed a reserve/future contract with the team back in January.

Before joining the Raiders, Brown was an undrafted free agent of the Baltimore Ravens in 2022 out of the University of Oregon.

The 26-year-old does have some very brief NFL action in his three seasons as a professional, playing in two games as a rookie with the Ravens, where he completed 22-of-49 pass attempts for 302 yards and two interceptions. Brown has one career start to his name, where he lost the regular season finale of the 2022 campaign.

Brown joins the Bills roster after quarterback Mitch Trubisky went down with a knee injury in Saturday's preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to head coach Sean McDermott on Monday, Trubisky is expected to miss multiple weeks with the injury.

This comes after third-string quarterback Shane Buechele suffered a season-ending neck injury in the first preseason game against the Chicago Bears. That injury saw the Bills adding free agent Ben DiNucci into the fold a week ago.

McDermott also said Monday the starters, including quarterback Josh Allen, will not play on Saturday against the Panthers due to the current injury situation the team faces. That means it will be DiNucci and Brown splitting reps for a Buffalo offense that has yet to score a touchdown in the preseason.

Kickoff on Saturday is set for 1 p.m. ET at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
