Orlando, Fla. (WGR 550) - Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs made his first public comments since Buffalo was bounced from the playoffs in the AFC Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs.
During an interview with NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe at the Pro Bowl Games, Diggs expressed a bit of uncertainty about his future with the Bills.
"I feel like I take it day-by-day," said Diggs on Friday. "Obviously, there's a lot of changes going on, a lot of things going on. I can't really put the carriage before the horse, you know what I'm saying? But I've got a great offseason in front of me to put a lot of work in, and build around what we've got and what we're doing."
The 30-year-old experienced a drop in production during the second half of the 2023 season.
Diggs still managed to put up an 1,100-plus-yard receiving season, his fourth-straight season of 1,000 yards receiving with the Bills, but failed to produce a 100-yard receiving game since Week 6 against the New York Giants. This after opening the year with 100-plus yards receiving in five of the first six games played.
In Buffalo's playoff matchup with the Chiefs, Diggs was a non-factor for the Bills with just three catches for 21 yards on eight targets. That left him with his lowest catch rate of the season at 37.5%.
One play that could've been a turning point for Buffalo came on Buffalo's final drive when Diggs dropped a deep pass from quarterback Josh Allen, who managed to throw the ball more than 60 yards down the field. The ball ended up sailing right through the veteran's hands.
General manager Brandon Beane did say at his end-of-season press conference he still believes Diggs is a No. 1 wide receiver in the league, despite a down year.
Diggs still has three years remaining on his four-year contract extension he signed in 2022 with a cap hit of $27.354 million going into the 2024 season.
