Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - For the first time in his NFL career, Taron Johnson has been recognized as an All-Pro player by the Associated Press.
The Buffalo Bills cornerback was named on Friday as a Second-Team All-Pro for the 2023 season. It marks the first time a slot corner has been named to an All-Pro team.
The sixth-year pro played all 17 games during the 2023 regular season, accumulating 98 tackles, one sack, two quarterback hits, eight passes defended, three tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
The former fourth-round pick of the Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft has played 88 career games with the Bills, racking up 450 total tackles, 21 tackles for loss, seven sacks, 39 passes defended, four interceptions, seven forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Johnson has had the responsibility of guarding some of the best pass catchers in the NFL over the last several years. One of his biggest moments in 2023 was batting down a game-winning touchdown from New York Giants tight end Darren Waller to secure a 14-9 victory in Week 6.
This marks the fifth-straight season the Bills defense has produced an All-Pro player. This includes:
- CB - Tre'Davious White: 2019 (First-Team) and 2020 (Second-Team)
- S - Jordan Poyer: 2021 (First-Team)
- S - Micah Hyde: 2021 (Second-Team)
- LB - Matt Milano: 2022 (First-Team)
