Adams encouraged by Sabres' effort despite slow start to season

Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams joined "Schopp and the Bulldog" ahead of his team's matchup with the Islanders on Friday

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Through the first 10 games of the 2024-25 season, the Buffalo Sabres have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride to start the year.

The Sabres started the season in Prague, Czechia to take part in the NHL Global Series, dropping both games to the New Jersey Devils at O2 Arena. Then they returned to North America, where Buffalo started to find their game a bit more.

"We’ve gone 4-2-1 since that start. We’re a little uneven, but I think there is a lot to like, and there are also some parts to our game to not like and to clean up," said Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams during an appearance on WGR with "Schopp and the Bulldog".

While the Sabres have had some players like the top line of JJ Peterka-Tage Thompson-Alex Tuch start to find their groove, others like Dylan Cozens have struggled to get going this season, despite leading the team in shots on goal.

In an effort to get the former first-round pick in 2019 going, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff has moved Cozens from center to the right wing.

"Sometimes you need to get guys out of their own head a little bit and just change it up," said Adams of the change with Mike Schopp and Chris "Bulldog" Parker.

The Sabres face the New York Islanders on Friday night at KeyBank Center before heading to Detroit on Saturday for a matchup with the Red Wings.
