Luukkonen named NHL's Third Star of the Week

The Sabres goaltender won all three of his starts last week

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Buffalo Sabres goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has been selected as the NHL’s Third Star of the Week.

Luukkonen has been playing much better lately, capped off by a 3-0-0 record week. The 25-year-old had a 1.30 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage.

When he was a rookie, Luukkonen won NHL Rookie of the Month, but this is the first time he’s been selected one of the NHL’s Three Stars of the Week.

Monday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens will mark the ninth game out of 10 that Luukkonen has played.

Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck was named the week's No. 1 star, while Colorado Avalanche forward Nate MacKinnon was the Second Star of the Week.
