Rasmus Dahlin takes temporary leave of absence from Sabres

The Sabres captain will return to Sweden, where his fiancée underwent a heart transplant during the offseason

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff announced Friday that defenseman and team captain Rasmus Dahlin will be taking a temporary leave of absence from the team, as he returns to Sweden to deal with a personnel matter.

Ruff told the media Friday that Dahlin told him everything is OK, but at this time, there is no timetable on his return from Sweden.

Dahlin’s fiancée, Carolina, underwent a heart transplant over the offseason.

The Sabres begin a four-game road trip on Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, N.C.
