Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The Sabres could still make some roster changes ahead of Monday's deadline to have the 23-man group established, but as of 2 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon, Buffalo is down to 23 players.

2022 first-round pick Matt Savoie is also still in Buffalo, but I would think he will join Jack Quinn on injured reserve come Monday.

This also means 18-year-old Zach Benson has defied the odds and made the opening night roster, thanks to a great training camp and preseason.

Buffalo is currently carrying three goalies, one extra forward and one extra defenseman.

Three players were placed on waivers on Saturday for the purpose of assignment to the Rochester Americans. Those players are defensemen Riley Stillman and Kale Clague, as well as forward Brandon Biro.

Going outright to the Amerks are forward Lukas Rousek and defenseman Ryan Johnson. Johnson had a very good camp, and could be back at some point during the season.

Here is how things look as of Saturday:

Forwards:

Skinner – Thompson – Tuch
Peterka – Cozens – Olofsson
Greenway – Mittelstadt – Benson
Girgensons – Krebs – Okposo
Jost

Defense:

Dahlin – Clifton
Power – Jokiharju
Samuelsson – Johnson
Bryson

Goalies:

Levi
Luukkonen
Comrie
