Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – Wednesday night's scheduled game between the Buffalo Sabres and Chicago Blackhawks has been postponed until Thursday at 7 p.m. EST.
Travel bans in a number of municipalities in Western New York, including South Buffalo where KeyBank Center resides, made it impossible for fans to get to the game safely.
A large portion of Western New York has been dealing with lake effect snow since this past weekend, which included Tuesday night, where some areas received more than two feet of fresh snowfall.
The snow band is expected to drift Southward and back into Downtown Buffalo by late Wednesday afternoon.
The Blackhawks played in Chicago on Tuesday night, and arrived in Buffalo at around 2 a.m. EST on Wednesday.
