Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – As the Buffalo Sabres prepare to head to California on Monday, they have recalled goalie Devon Levi from Rochester and sent Eric Comrie back down to the Americans.
Levi needed to get into a game, so he went down Saturday to play against the Springfield Thunderbirds in Rochester. He made 14 saves on 17 shots to help get the Amerks the win.
The 22-year-old has played three games in Rochester this season, going 2-1-0 with a 2.97 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.
Levi hadn’t played since Jan. 9 against the Seattle Kraken, so the Sabres wanted to get him a game before they left for the West Coast.
Buffalo plays the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday and the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday, so it's possible Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will play against the Ducks and Levi will play against the Kings.
Luukkonen has taken over as Buffalo’s No. 1 goalie. In his last seven games, he’s 5-2-0 with a 1.29 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage. In the two losses, Buffalo scored just one goal overall.
