Sabres select defenseman Adam Kleber with 42nd pick in 2024 NHL Draft

Kleber is set to play at the University of Minnesota-Duluth as a Freshman next year

Las Vegas, Nev. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - With the 42nd pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres select defenseman Adam Kleber from the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League (USHL).

The native of Chaska, Minnesota is a right-shot defenseman, standing at 6-foot-5 and 214 pounds from the blue line.

In his second full season in the USHL this past season with Lincoln, Kleber scored five goals and added 21 assists for 26 points in 56 games played. In 112 career games with the Stars, Kleber has produced a combined 34 points (5+29).

Elite Prospects consider Kleber as a mobile defenseman that can move swiftly and efficiently around the ice. He's also said to be a balanced defender in both the offensive and defensive zones.

Here's more on Kleber from Elite Prospects:

"With agility, reach, and details, Kleber’s a formidable defender. He angles opponents to the outside and times his pokes just as they expose the puck. He has the range to switch between high, low, and off-puck coverage with ease. He’s physical, yet rarely chases or ends up in the box."

Kleber is set to make his way to the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he will play his Freshman season of college hockey with the Bulldogs.

The Sabres were set to select with the 43rd overall pick, but traded the pick Saturday morning to the Washington Capitals in order to acquire forward Beck Malenstyn.
