Sabres sign Conor Timmins to two-year contract

The defenseman avoids arbitration, and signs a contract with a $2.2 million cap hit

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Sabres made some news on Sunday by signing newly acquired defenseman Conor Timmins to a two-year contract worth $4.4 million.

The signing means Timmins avoids arbitration, and now leaves goalie Devon Levi as Buffalo's lone restricted free agent still yet to sign a new deal.

It was back on June 28 during Day 2 of the NHL Draft when the Sabres acquired Timmins and minor league defenseman Isaac Belliveau from the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenseman Connor Clifton and Buffalo's 2025 second-round pick.

The trade is an upgrade over Clifton, who struggled mightily since being signed as a free agent in 2023 from the Boston Bruins.

Last season, Timmins started with the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he played 51 games and scored two goals and six assists for eight points.

He was then traded at the NHL Trade Deadline to the Penguins, where he played 17 games and scored a goal and six assists for seven points.
