MESHOPPEN, Pa. – Three individuals have been sentenced in Wyoming County in connection with a severe child abuse case involving a 16-year-old girl who was found malnourished and injured inside a Meshoppen home earlier this year.
The victim's mother, Ashley Brewer, received the harshest penalty, sentenced to 5 to 10 years in state prison and a $1,000 fine. Brewer was charged after her daughter was discovered weighing only 28 pounds, severely emaciated, and suffering from bed sores.
The girl's grandmother, Deborah Graham, was sentenced to two years of probation and a $500 fine. The girl's father, William Schuster, was given credit for time served and has been placed on parole.
The case gained attention earlier this year when police filed charges after the child was found in critical condition. Authorities have not released further details on the victim's current status.
