(Cromwell, Conn./WTIC) - When the Travelers Championship tees off from the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell next week, an old friend will be making a return visit.

Five-time major champion and two-time Travelers winner Phil Mickelson has committed to play the tournament this year.

Mickelson, who turned 50 on Tuesday, makes it seven of the top players in the Official World Golf ranking and eight of the top 10 who have committed to the Travelers this year.

Mickelson has won three Master's, a PGA, and a U.S. Open tournament in his career.

He's the only golfer to win back-to-back at the TPC, in 2001 and 2002.

The tournament runs from June 25 through June 28.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's Travelers Championship will be a TV-only event.
