DETROIT (WWJ) - A young Detroit woman is being held without bond, accused in the double slaying of two men from Downriver.
Dariyan Bailey, 21, was arraigned Monday on two counts of First Degree Murder, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and two counts of Felony Firearm in connection with the deaths of 29-year-old Anthony Beavers of River Rouge, and 27-year-old Raymond Williams of Ecorse.
According to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, EMS was dispatched to the area of Keeler and Appoline Streets in Detroit at around 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, to find the victims sitting in a car. Williams was the driver’s seat, Beavers was in the passenger's seat, and both were suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities say.
The police were called, and both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Prosecutors said a homicide investigation by Detroit police then led to the identification and arrest of Bailey last Friday.
Bond was denied and Bailey was remanded into custody in the Wayne County Jail to await her next court appearance, a probable cause conference set for May 5.
As for a possible motive for the killings, or what evidence may link her to the crime, that is still unclear at this time. Prosecutors said further details about the case will be produced in court at the preliminary examination scheduled for May 11, before Judge Kenneth King.
