LIVONIA (WWJ) - Police have busted two young men accused of stealing animals from an exotic pet store -- thanks to their mother.
Livonia police say the suspects were brought to the station Thursday and identified as the thieves by their mother. The stolen animals, a baby Sulcata Tortoise and three Leopard Geckos, were also returned.
The theft happened around 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at Stingers Reptiles on Middle Belt Road south of 7 Mile Road. Surveillance video from the store shows the suspects reaching into the cages and simply removing the animals before they fled the scene.
Police released images of the suspects this week and posted video of the theft to Facebook, asking for tips to identify the suspects.
It's unclear if criminal charges are being sought.
