(WWJ) The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was called to Livonia on Monday, to help police in the Detroit suburb deal with what was suspected to be a pipe bomb.
According to MSP, a resident found the suspicious object and brought to the local police department, hoping to turn it in to authorities.
Following an investigation, police said the item was determined not to be an explosive.
The Bomb Squad gave the "all clear" at the scene by mid-afternoon.
State Police did not say what the item turned out to be, or where exactly it was found.
While no one was hurt in this case, State Police want to take this opportunity to remind the public: If you find something you suspect may be an explosive, do not pick it up and bring it to police. In fact, do not touch it at all.
"Call 911 and they will send someone to you. Sometimes, just the movement is enough to set these things off," MSP said. "Especially, if it’s old or handmade."
