SANDUSKY, Ohio. (WWJ) - It was a "scary moment," a witness said, when one roller coaster train crashed into another at Cedar Point.
It happened Wednesday on Valravn, Cedar Point has confirmed, on one of the popular amusement park's newer rides.
Tweeting a photo snapped in the Valravn station, CP guest Robbie DiPaola said he was waiting to ride the coaster when it broke down. Then, he said, about 20 minutes after the ride resumed operations, one train "slammed into" another.
According to a short statement issued by the park, a Valravn train bumped a parked train in the loading station. "Guests in both trains were evaluated by the park’s First Aid team and escorted safely off the ride. Valravn is currently closed while the incident is under review," the statement continued. "There is no further information at this time."
Asked by WWJ Newsradio 950 if anyone was injured, a spokesman for the park said: "They were evaluated, we escorted them off, they went on with their visit."
Valravn was billed as the world’s tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster when it debuted as the Sandusky, Ohio park's 18th coaster in 2016.
No timetable was offered as to when the ride will reopen.
