(WWJ) A Wyandotte woman is facing charges after it's alleged she hit someone with her car at a Black Lives Matter protest in Taylor, and just drove away.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, 68-year-old Orlene Alberta Jones was driving eastbound on Goddard Rd. the evening of June 16, when a group of protesters stopped in the roadway

When her vehicle was close to the protesters it is alleged that Jones drove off, striking a 45-year-old woman from Van Buren Township. Prosecutors also say a man had to jump off his bike to avoid being hit by Jones, and that Jones drove over his bike, causing extensive damage.

Jones then fled the scene, authorities say.

The woman who was hit suffered non life-threatening injuries and was treated at at the scene.

The protesters called 911 and Taylor police responded and couldn't find Jones, but an investigation eventually led to her arrest.

Jones is charged with the following misdemeanors: Failure to Stop/Report a Personal Injury Accident, Failure to Stop/Report Property Damage Accident, and Malicious Destruction of Property - $200 - $1,000.

She was arraigned on the charges in 23rd District Court in Taylor Monday afternoon, and will be back in court for a pre-trial hearing set for Nov. 9.
