DETROIT (WWJ) - "Respect" — the long-awaited and highly-anticipated feature film that chronicles Aretha Franklin's rise to fame — is now in theaters.

The release comes more than a year after the coronavirus pandemic caused the movie's release date to be switched several times. But as of Friday, August 13, 2021, the wait is over.

To celebrate the movie's release, actress and singer Jennifer Hudson, who stars as Franklin in the film, joined director Liesl Tommy on a promotional swing that took them to several big cities across the country.

On Monday, August 2, the two stopped in Detroit where WWJ's film critic Terri Lee had an opportunity to sit down with them for an interview.

You can hear Terri's review of "Respect" below, or on WWJ Newsradio 950.
