Their car was stuck on an embankment, officials said.

The driver who hit the men, identified as a 29-year-old Roseville man, was arrested and is suspected of driving while intoxicated, according to police. His vehicle ran off the roadway down the embankment and struck both pedestrians, police said.

It was raining at the time of the crash, on a curved portion of I-94 near the Harper exit. Police said there have been many crashes on that stretch of freeway; especially in poor weather conditions.

No charges have yet been filed and no names have been released as the investigation continues.

Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information that could help investigators, is asked to call police at 586-493-7802, or Lieutenant C. Allis directly at 586-615-2525.
