(WWJ) Alcohol and speed are suspected factors, according to police, in an fiery crash that killed one person and seriously injured three others in Harper Woods.
Harper Woods Police are investigating the wreck that involved three vehicle at the intersection of Vernier and Harper, just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers were dispatched to the scene after a 9-1-1 call came in about a car that had rolled over and was on fire.
Police said an investigation found that the driver of a 2021 Ford Expedition was headed east of Vernier when it disregard a red light at north Harper.
The Expedition crashed into a 2014 Dodge Charger in the intersection and then continued east on Vernier when it struck a 2011 Cadillac CTS, which then hit a tree.
Everyone in three vehicles — one person in the Expedition, two in the Charger and one in the Cadillac — were all taken to a local hospital.
The Cadillac driver was pronounced dead upon arrival, police said, while the three others were listed in temporary serious condition.
Police said expected charges are pending against the Expedition driver.
An investigation by the Harper Woods Public Safety Department with help from Michigan State Police is ongoing.
No names were released.
