DETROIT (WWJ) – One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting at a mental health care facility on Detroit’s east side Wednesday afternoon.

Detroit police officials say two security guards were shot at Team Wellness Center on Mack Avenue.

Authorities say the suspect did not appear to be a patient or otherwise affiliated with the facility.

The gunman walked up to the guards with his hands in his pocket, and then pulled out his gun and fired shots.

One security guard was killed, while the other was said to be in temporary serious condition.

The suspect fled the scene and police are searching the area for the shooter. Authorities say the gunman was captured on surveillance video and investigators are reviewing footage.

Police officials have not provided a description of the alleged shooter. A possible motive in the case was not clear.
