(WWJ) Drivers in southern Macomb County will want to take note of this traffic alert:
Beginning today (Wednesday, July 14) 12 Mile Rd. is completely closed both eastbound and westbound at Gratiot Ave. (M-3) in Roseville.
The intersection is expected to remain closed for two weeks, through late July, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. Only local traffic will be allowed on 12 Mile Rd. between M-97, Groesbeck Highway, and I-94.
During the closure, crews will be replacing the water main, sewers and pavement at the intersection.
MDOT says the project will result in a smoother driving surface on Gratiot. New sewer systems will also improve drainage throughout the corridor. Both of these improvements will result in better ride quality and increased safety for motorists and pedestrians.
The following detours are posted:
Eastbound 12 Mile Rd. traffic will be detoured to southbound M-97, then eastbound I-696 to 11 Mile Rd. (Exit 28). Continue eastbound on 11 Mile Rd. to northbound Little Mack Ave. to reach eastbound 12 Mile Rd.
Westbound 12 Mile Rd. traffic will be detoured to southbound Little Mack Ave., then westbound 11 Mile Rd. to westbound I-696. Take Exit 26 to M-97 and follow northbound M-97 to reach westbound 12 Mile Rd.
