DETROIT (WWJ) -- A teen has been pronounced dead after being pulled from the Detroit River.
Detroit Police tell WWJ that their dive team and harbormaster were called in to assist the Coast Guard just after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday in response to reports of a teenager who went into the water and did not resurface.
After searching for a couple of hours, emergency response teams were able to locate and recover the 15-year-old boy.
The teen had reportedly been doing yard work at the home of an acquaintance on the city's east side when he asked if he could go for a swim in a nearby canal.
The victim has not yet been identified. No word yet on the circumstances surrounding this incident.
