ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - A 16-year-old high school student was injured after she was struck by a vehicle while walking to class on Wednesday morning in the city's second pedestrian crash in as many days.
According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. on March 8 while the teen was walking across the intersection of S 7th Street and Snyder Ave.
As the student was crossing, she was struck by a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane, causing non-life-threatening injuries to her leg, police stated.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers did not say whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash -- the investigation is ongoing at this time.
The incident comes two days after a University of Michigan student sustained "significant" lower leg injures in a hit-and-run crash in the city. Police are asking for the public's help in locating the suspect vehicle involved, which fled from the scene.
Investigators believe the vehicle involved in the crash is a dark gray 2021 Dodge Charger -- police said it would have minor damage to the front right part of the car and a missing passenger side mirror.
