STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ)—A teen was killed in a motorcycle crash in Sterling Heights.
The Sterling Heights Fire Department pulled the victim, 17, from the wreckage of his motorcycle Saturday morning and rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash, according to police.
Preliminary investigation revealed the teen was riding westbound on 18 Mile when a 2014 Dodge Durango, heading north, struck him at the Van Dyke intersection around 6 a.m.
Police told WWJ drugs and alcohol may have been a “contributing factor” in the crash. However, it remains under investigation.
The driver of the other vehicle was not seriously hurt.
The 17-year-old victim’s name has not yet been released.
