DETROIT (WWJ) - Two brothers are dead after they were shot by their cousin, who then killed himself, following a family argument on Monday afternoon, Detroit police said.
Detroit police told WWJ the tragic incident unfolding around 3:30 p.m. on Monday on the city's east side, in the 2900 block of Bewick near Mack Ave.
Police said the two brothers, ages 17 and 26, were shot by their 29-year-old cousin while inside a home at the location. The cousin then ran from the residence, firing multiple rounds at another home as he did so.
Officers responding to the scene were able to find the suspect later on near Chandler Park and Conner with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Police said one brother died at the scene while the other was taken to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries.
No one else was hurt from when the suspect open fired at the home on Bewick Street.
An investigation into the shooting remains active, police added. The reason for the argument that led to the shooting has not been identified.
