
LANSING (WWJ) -- More than two dozen Burger King restaurants in the Metro Detroit area will be permanently closed for business by mid-April, resulting in over 400 lost jobs.
In a letter to the state, the fast food chain's local management company EYM King of Michigan said it would be closing 26 Burger King locations between Mar. 17 and Apr. 15.
EYM writes that it "will permanently cease operations in Michigan due to the unoreceen business circumstance and not bein able to reach a resolution with Burger King Corporation."
According to EYM, 424 general managers, shift managers and team members will be layed off as a result of the closures.
Many of the locations are in Detroit as well as Dearborn Heights, Ferndale and Southfield.
Outside of the Metro Detroit area, two Burger Kings in Flint and one in Walled Lake are also closing.
