31-year-old man charged with over a dozen felonies, including attempted murder, in Canton trailer park shooting

A 31-year-old man with previous firearm convictions is facing 14 felony counts, including attempted murder, after he allegedly shot a man twice at a Canton mobile home park last week.

CANTON (WWJ) - A 31-year-old man with previous firearm convictions is facing 14 felony counts, including attempted murder, after he allegedly shot a man twice at a Canton mobile home park last week.

According to the Canton Police Department, Tywone Sweden, 31, was arrested and charged in connection to the April 16th shooting of a 38-year-old man.

Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Sherwood Mobile Home Park around 6:30 that morning after receiving a report that someone had been shot.

When they arrived on scene, they found the victim with one gunshot wound to his leg and one to his abdomen. Police immediately rendered life-saving aid until Canton fire fighters arrived and transported the 38-year-old to the hospital.

"Police Department detectives began an in-depth investigation into the incident, which included executing four separate search warrants in Canton, Taylor, Dearborn Heights and Detroit," officials added.

Their investigation led them to Sweden's arrest. He was charged with 14 felony counts in the case, including:

• 1 Count of Assault with Intent to Murder; punishable by up to life or any number of years

• 1 Count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder

• 1 Count of Discharging a Firearm in a Building

• 1 Count of Felon in Possession of a Weapon

• 1 Count of Felon in Possession of Ammunition

• 2 Counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

• 7 Counts of Felony Firearm, Third Offense

Sweden was arraigned on the charges on April 22nd and given a $750,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled to appear back in 35th District Court on May 5.
