(WWJ/AP) Everyone aboard walked away OK after a small jet crashed at the Capital Region International Airport in Lansing.

According to authorities, the Cirrus Vision SF50 — a light, single-engine commuter jet — crashed on the runway shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The aircraft burst into flames just after the crash. But all four people — plus a dog that was on board — were able to escape unhurt, officials said.

The Lansing Fire Department was assisted by the DeWitt Township Fire Department and Delta Township Fire Department in putting out the fire.

The airport authority's president and CEO, Nicole Noll-Williams, said airport officials are "grateful that everyone walked away from the plane without injuries," adding: “We applaud our CRAA emergency response team and our mutual aid partners in response to the aircraft accident.”

The crash and fire forced the airport to close temporarily, but it reopened later Tuesday night.

It's unclear what led to the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
