TEMPERANCE (WWJ) - An alleged bank robber is in custody after Monroe County Sheriff deputies received a tip and were able to track the suspect down to a home across the state border, authorities said.
The sheriff's office said a 69-year-old man was arrested without incident in Ohio on Saturday morning, one day after the Monroe County Community Credit Union in Temperance, Mich. was robbed.
As outlined by the MCSO, a white male suspect entered the bank located at 7408 Lewis Ave. around 5:40 p.m. Friday and demanded money from the staff. The man was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a dark colored Chrysler with obstructed plates, deputies said.
The sheriff's office then received a tip shortly after photos of the suspect and the suspect's vehicle were released to the public, which led them to a home in Toledo, Ohio.

Authorities said the suspect and the vehicle were located at the residence -- the 69-year-old was taken into custody and is currently lodged at the Lucas County Jail pending an extradition hearing.
The sheriff's office said the man's name is being withheld at this time until he is formally charged and arraigned in 1st District Court in Monroe.
Authorities applauded the group effort of deputies across state lines and thanked the individuals that were able to help identify the suspect.
"The Sheriff’s Office commends the collective investigative efforts of Deputies Brian Rachuba, Danny Greenwood, Douglas Moore, and Lance Shields, along with Detectives Bob Blair and Josh Motylinski. The Sheriff’s Office also thanks the citizens who provided information on the identity of the suspect. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office."
The sheriff's office is still accepting tips related to this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
