GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police investigators want to hear from anyone who witnessed a deadly motorcycle crash in the Grand Rapids area overnight.

One person was killed in the crash at round 12:30 a.m. Thursday on the I-196 westbound ramp to Ottawa Ave., according to MSP.

Police said witnesses found the 27-year-old man who'd been operating the motorcycle dead on the scene, not far from the crashed bike.

Troopers from the MSP Grand Rapids Post, who are still investigating the incident, said it appears that the motorcycle driver went off the roadway and struck a guardrail.

No one else was hurt, and it does not appear at this time that any other vehicles were involved.

MSP said, although they're still looking into what happened, it's believed that alcohol may be a factor in the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the MSP Grand Rapids Post at 616-866-4411.
