(WWJ) Amaria Hall, a Trenton teen who was feared a victim of human trafficking when she disappeared near two years ago, has been found.
The good news came Monday from the Trenton Police Department, which said the girl — now a young woman — was located "safe and sound."
Where she's been all this time, however, remains a mystery.
A statement issued by the police department reads:
"In July 2019, the Trenton Police Department initiated an investigation into the disappearance of Amaria Hall. Over the course of the investigation, numerous leads were pursued and several partnering agencies were involved.
"On July 31, 2021, the lead investigator met with Amaria and her attorney. Amaria is safe and in good health. Amaria's mother has been notified. Out of respect for the privacy of Amaria, who is now 18 years of age, and the judicial process, which lies in the hands of the 3rd Judicial Circuit, juvenile division, no further details will be provided."
Crime Stoppers had offered a $10,000 reward or tips about Hall, who was 16 years old when was last seen early in the morning of Sunday, July 7, 2019, in the 2100 block of King Road, near Fort Street in Trenton.
When the teen's mother went to wake her for church, she was nowhere to be found.
Speaking to WWJ Newsradio 950 at that time, April Hall said she believed her daughter got involved with an older man.
The teen had recently received a package from someone she met through social media, and authorities were investigating whether her disappearance was connected to that person.
If she did take off with a man, the mother said she believed there "had to be some degree of force." She said she would never give up looking for her daughter.
"I think she's being held against her will," April Hall told WWJ's Stephanie Davis. "I think she's being trafficked."
