WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) -- Students at Oakland County's Waterford Mott High School have been sent home early as police investigate a threat.

A message from the Waterford School District, posted to social media, said school officials and Waterford Police are looking into what they're calling an "unsubstantiated threat" made at the school today.

"Out of an abundance of caution," the school is closed and all evening activities are cancelled for Wednesday evening, officials said.

Students were sheltering in place before classes were dismissed, Wednesday afternoon.

There is no further information available about the alleged Mott threat at this time.

The move comes a day after four students were shot and killed, and seven more people were wounded at Oxford High School, also located in Oakland County.
