Baby hurt after car seat breaks free in crash on I-96 in Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) -- A 1-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a crash on I-96 in Detroit.

According to police, the car was traveling westbound on I-96 near Evergreen Road around 9:00 p.m. on Monday when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a wall.

The baby in the car was reportedly not properly secured in their car seat, which broke free during the crash.

A nurse and other good samaritans who witnessed the accident stopped at the scene to help, transporting the parents and the baby to a nearby hospital.

The crash remains under investigation by police.
