MSP investigating after Bay County Sheriff's deputy shoots, kills murder suspect

BANGOR TWP. (WWJ) – A suspect is dead after being shot by a Bay County Sheriff’s deputy early Sunday morning.

Michigan State Police say they’re investigating the incident, which happened around 3:30 a.m. in Bangor Township – along the southwestern shores of Saginaw Bay.

MSP officials say the  Bay County Sheriff’s Department was called to the Bangor Downs Apartments on a reported shooting.

When they showed up, they found a person dead inside an apartment and then made contact with an armed suspect.

MSP officials say the suspect was shot by a deputy and later died at the hospital.

Authorities have not said what led to the initial shooting or what happened in the moments leading up to the deputy-involved shooting.

Police have not released the names or ages of the victim or suspect.

No deputies or anyone else were injured during the incident and officials say there is no threat to the public. MSP says it remains “an open and active investigation.”
