(WWJ) Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is in line to become Energy Secretary in the Joe Biden administration.

First reported by Politico, Granholm, if confirmed, will be in charge of promoting clean-energy manufacturing, moving the country away from fossil fuels and speeding up the development of electric vehicles and setting up a network of charging stations.

Granholm, who was Michigan's first female governor, last month wrote an opinion-editorial that said in part the private sector needs greater support and political will from our policymakers to help us fully realize the potential of a zero-carbon future.  She wrote the economics are clear, and that "the time for a low-carbon recovery is now."

Granholm was Michigan's Attorney General before she served two terms as governor from 2003 until 2011. She was also an energy advisor to Hillary Clinton and is an adjunct professor at the University of California Berkeley law school.
