LENAWEE COUNTY (WWJ) -- The body of a man who fell into Devil's Lake in Lenawee County has been recovered.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office said a man, 39, fell off his inner tube while tubing on the lake with his family on Sunday around 2 p.m. Authorities told WWJ that his family and another family, both from Ohio, had rented cabins on the lake for a Memorial Day weekend getaway.
The man was not wearing a lifejacket and never resurfaced, according to the sheriff. He was tubing with his daughter.
The Michigan State Police Dive Team joined in on the search for the father, along with the Addison Fire Department, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and the Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol. The Somerset Fire Department and Liberty Township Fire Department, who brought a sonar unit, also helped in the response. In all, a total of 50 personnel from nearby police and fire departments assisted the search on Memorial Day.
