DETROIT (WWJ) -- There was chaos in Greektown as police attempted to break up a melee in the street.
A video posted to Instagram shows two large groups going head-to-head before police intervened early Sunday morning, with some in the crowd also attacking officers. You can see the video below, but note that it contains very strong and offensive language.
Several people were arrested and multiple cops were injured. Investigators are reviewing the social media videos and body camera footage to learn more about the incident.
DPD has increased patrols downtown due to a recent increase in illegal activity, especially in Greektown. Thirteen firearms were confiscated last night as a part of that effort.
More arrests are expected today as the investigation from the Detroit Police Department continues.
