LANSING (WWJ) A police pursuit in the Lansing area ended with a man and a woman behind bars.
Michigan State Police said, just after midnight Friday, a trooper responded to help Dewitt Township and Dewitt City officers with a theft in progress. The suspects were attempting to cut catalytic converters from a car, according to State Police.
State Police said the officers tried to talk to the suspects, but they ran away and jumped into a car.
The troopers were able to catch up with the suspect and tried to initiate a traffic stop, according to State Police.
Police said the driver kept going.
The pursuit ended when the driver crashed into the front of a Vet’s Ace Hardware on N. East Street near Call.
The 31 year-old woman driving the car, and the 23-year-old man riding with her, were both taken to a local hospital. None of the officers were injured.
She, from Eaton Rapids, and he, from Lansing, were both arrested.
She’s charged with Fleeing and Eluding 3rd Degree, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property, Assault To Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder, Resisting and Obstructing, Possession of Burglary Tools and Possession of Meth.
He’s charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Burglary Tools, Resisting and Obstructing, and Receiving & Concealing Stolen Property.
