DETROIT (WWJ) – Metro Detroiters woke up to some chilly temperatures on Easter Sunday, and while the sun will be out most of the day, there could be a bit of a shock during the Monday morning commute.
AccuWeather meteorologist Dean DeVore says temperatures will dip to around freezing or below overnight, and some precipitation – mainly snow – will move in Monday morning.
"The early birds should be OK," DeVore said. "It will probably closer to 8, 9, 10 o'clock 'til some of this moves in tomorrow morning."
There could be some rain at times during the afternoon, but DeVore says there will snow accumulation of a coating to an inch or more on grassy surfaces.
The National Weather Service in Detroit says accumulation could reach 1-3 inches on Monday.
The heaviest accumulations could be seen in the Thumb region, according to the NWS.
Temps will gradually increase throughout the week, suring into the 60s on Thursday, DeVore said.
