Clinton Twp. woman found drunk, passed out behind the wheel after attending "multiple baby showers"

TROY (WWJ) -- A Macomb County woman is facing drunken driving charges after police said they found her unconscious behind the wheel of her car in a driveway in Troy.

Just after 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, Troy Police responded to calls about a possible drunk driver who was "swerving all over the road."

Officers found the suspect, a 29-year-old woman from Clinton Twp., after she pulled into the driveway of a home on Wagonwheel Dr., near Dequindre Rd.

Police approached the car to find the driver slumped over the steering wheel and apparently unconscious.

When officers woke her up, the found that her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, her speech was slurred and she smelled like booze, according to a police report.

When questions, the woman told officers she was coming from "multiple baby showers," police said.

It was determined she had no connection to the residence whose driveway she was in and she didn't know where she was.

After she failed several sobriety evaluations, police said the driver submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .143% BAC (blood alcohol content).

She was arrested and transported to Troy Police Lock-Up where a chemical breath test with results of .12% and .13%, according to police.

The woman was charged with OWI and open intoxicant in a vehicle. Her name was not immediately released.
